It all started when......
A pair of African Servals needed a home due to the divorce of their owners.
The population grew rapidly with the addition of five cats from a farm in Mississippi,
because their owner had been killed in a car accident, and they no longer had anyone to care for them.
the next residents were, a bobcat who committed the indiscretion of jumping on people in play,
and a serval who
no longer 'fit in'
with his family
when they decided
to have children.
Then there was a joint purchase to rescue seven adult Canadian lynx from a fur farm in Northern Canada,
and two baby lynx from a fur farm in  Minnesota.
An old male bobcat no longer of any use as a breeder,
and a baby bobcat with a broken back, who was given little or no chance of recovery, joined the family.

Currently, the facility houses and cares for fourteen cats. There are seven Bobcats, four Siberian Lynx, and three Canadian Lynx. Many have been rescued from abusive situations, starvation, or death at the hands of fur farmers.

Wild Ones Sanctuary, provides these animals with a safe, comfortable home, vet care, and plenty of food for the rest of their lives. Occasionally, placement into a good home is possible, but for most of these cats, Wild Ones Sanctuary, is the last stop because
nobody else wants them, except for their pelts.
Shirley Malar, holds a full-time job and also works part-time when the opportunity arises. She repairs windshield rock chips, and in whatever time she can spare she does artwork to sell to help support the cats. She also serves on the Animal Control Advisory Board for Clark County.

Even with all this effort, the needs of the sanctuary still exceed
her means. If you or anybody you know, might be in the
position to
offer products, services, or financial
aid to help support the cats,
please contact The Sanctuary
regarding your tax-deductible donation.
Wild Ones Sanctuary is not open to the public, however
special arrangements may be made to tour the Sanctuary.
