I have been an interior designer for 35 years! In 1979 my former husband and I were involved in the formation of Northwest Koi & Goldfish Club in Vancouver, WA. From that moment in time our lives were taken over with our love of Koi. Over the years I have been asked to create different Koi features for other's but my true love became designing indoor Koi ponds. After so many years of wondering each spring if our fish would survive I decided I had enough of the "crap shoot and loss of my living jewels" and began wondering what it would be like to have them inside our home and close enough to enjoy all year long.

My husband and I built our former home in the shape of a "U" and installed a 6,000 gallon pond in a wonderful room with gardens filled with my favorite tropical plants. This room was accessed from all over the house. Our bed was 6 feet away from our pond so we were about as close as you can get to one's hobby. A lot of learning went into our project and the outcome was not only something we enjoyed daily but were able to share with other's as well. Walking around your home and viewing your "kids" from all the rooms is as close to living in paradise as we could get.

The benefit of never having to worry through another winter was wonderful. No sick fish, no algae and best of all, No HERRONS thinking you just supplied the best lunch buffet around town.

In 2007 I was asked to design a very special pond for a couple who have been into show Koi for many years. They travel the world in search of beautiful Koi and their collection is gorgeous. I had built other smaller ponds in homes but never something as big as the 40,000 gallons they wanted. That meant 45 ft. long, approximately 15 wide and 9 1/2 ft. deep. This would be one of the largest indoor ponds in the USA that I knew about. The budget allowed for all the extras and some we hadn't even thought of befor beginning this project. The Koi pond project turned into a complete remodel of a 6 years old home so I had my work cut out for me. It took over 1 year to complete. I did the designs for pond, remodel and addition and the owner did all the designs for the plumbing and everything having to do with their beloved Koi.

I won the 2008 "Best Remodel over $225,000" from the Building Industry Association, formerly, Clark County Home Builders Association. Needless to say, this was a thrill of a lifetime. I hope you enjoy seeing the photos as much as I enjoyed creating the beauty of it all.
