Sighed This

Tenderer down the silken secret
aisle of illuminated lore,
you whose so open-hearted leap of
faith in the leaves green darkness wore
when we were its starry evenings’ mantled
shoulder, its lone warm-bodied grace
among the pale spires it cast its lantern-
lilt-fire along, the tree-lined place
where learned intent was met with listened
meanings so sweetly strange—most fair
dream-tenderer, you have found our missing
flesh.  All our lives trees sigh this air!

Never Wait

You moved through drapingly, shakingly lacehung
ideas, a fretwork of strangeness, a mind
that seemed wooed but forsaken.  While one of us waited,
the other fell further, more deathly, behind—
then there waved a slow curtain, a lonely life’s making,
away:  We were suddenly one all along.
Now in the eerie low lilt of the play of
pure loveliness coming on ever so strong,
one is swiftness flown under live skin like a bated-
breath current set free,  soul and surface and sound.
Body of lifted-hair music most faithful
to what never waits, we are love thus unbound.
