Come Dancing

Our dance will have taken your strong self’s turning-
endless, relentlessly vivid flight
a very long way toward midnight’s burning
lantern.  The sky that immense wild light
fulfills of an old void’s ache with steady
streams will have wrapped you deeply round
with the lulling joy of its lapping bed of
sea-wet.  Come now, love spell-unbound.

Thus We Dream You

The fine-woven net closes in ever tighter,
its spiraling meshes of many-plied thread
winding thoughtwise alive, moving sensitive fibers
aligned with your wanting the wet rosy head
of the well whose warm depths signal wave-longing liquid
pulsations of serial timelessness one
cannot help but dissolve in the instant the flick of
an eyelash—or tongue—sees the web comes undone
and the all but imprisoned heart beating back tremors
too sweet to mean fear lapse along with the flow
of the spiral’s reply to its efforts, this ever
so artless a sigh—thus we dream you to know.

Mirror-Echo Ride

One’s hand on one’s brow, we shall lust be woken
moments ago for the heavy bliss
of hopelessly twined lovers’ souls and broken
branches of apples as wet as this
rain-willed silver laurel’s recurring message:
Dreaming aloud the long damp hand slides,
ghost-fragrance its wake.  How that air addresses
the faint mirror-echo your nightmare now rides.
