Shortly after the flooding of Glen Canyon began, Reader's Digest sponsored a large gathering of journalists at the rim of the Grand Canyon. The topic was the proposed dams in Grand Canyon. The Bureau of Reclamation chartered a large airliner and invited the journalists to take a tour of the canyon and the dam sites. They did not reveal their sponsorship of the tour, and the journalists had to deduce it from the spin put on the narrative once they were in the air. BuRec's ploy backfired. The journalists felt duped. The Sierra Club movie made from our Glen Canyon slide show was also shown to the journalists. The pictures of Labyrinth shown here are a part of that movie. As are many of the other pictures you see on this site. Some of the journalists commented that if that movie had been made ten years earlier, Glen Canyon Dam would never have been built.
