Driftwood backs up densely into the entrance of this canyon as spring runoff brings it down from Colorado and Wyoming.  At perhaps 60,000 cubic feet per second, many times the maximum river flow allowed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1998. 

A short distance up Driftwood is a series of gigantic alcoves.
