Anatomy of a phalarope

Above is a Red Phalarope skull taken from a roadkill phalarope.  To the
right is a reconstructed partial skeleton of a red phalarope.  All the bones
except the tarsometatarsus and foot were recovered from a Snowy Owl
pellet collected at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.  The foot was
recovered from the same phalarope as the skull.
