Courthouse
Square
Located
in downtown Salem, OR, this five-story, 150,000 sf complex houses
the government offices of Marion County and the Salem Area Transit.
It also serves as the downtown transit center with the transit
mall taking up approximately half of the square city block. The
270-space underground parking structure is located under the building,
bus mall and future development pad.
Courthouse
Square was the pilot project for the U.S. Green Building Council.
A Bronze LEED certification was awarded to the building. This
is currently considered a “certified” rating.
Due
to the busy downtown location, detailed planning and coordination
was required for delivery of materials and supplies, demolition
of the old building, excavation and construction. This was a post-tension
cast-in-place structure with brick veneer.
