I have run across some info on garlic being good for many health problems in cats. I have not found anything on what type or dosages for them. Does any one else have that info? Or negative info, for that matter. Chris & Donia McDonald

There's very little science with respect to Garlic and cats except that it doesn't repel fleas... Sometime garlic and onion are thought of as being more or less the same thing. Onion, with its n-propyl disulphide, is cumulatively toxic and in sufficient quantity can be fatal... Some cats seem to enjoy eating it... They shouldn't. Garlic contains some compounds similar similar to onion's and for safety should be very limited in the diet, if used at all. There are many other safe, well researched dietary supplements that will assure much better health for cats than garlic... In general, specific supplements that are great for humans can be toxic for felines. If you don't know for sure, it's a good idea not to try them... Cats are especially unique in their dietary requirements and tolerance.

As an herblist for 30 years I agree 100% with John. Especially when dealing with exotic or wild cats. I have read the same claims about garlic and cats. John is correct that it doesn't repel fleas. I haven't found pennyroyal to do much either. Garlic can be used topically but the problen with cats is they lick their fur constantly. Pure garlic is an irratrant. Sherry:)
