TunnelWatch

Software-based Tunnel Controller

TunnelWatch SystemTunnelWatch is a software-based tunnel controller written in a high-level programming language. It actually runs on a personal computer.

There are three very important advantages to this platform. First, it eliminates hard-to-understand codes and replace them with normal, easy-to-use, English commands. Secondly, upgrading your system can be as easy as loading a new disk. And finally, our approach makes TunnelWatch capable of many features new to the carwash industry.

Important features include:
  • Overrides are easily controlled from four different places: At the Master Computer (which normally sits in the manager's office), at the Remote Relay Station (normally in the equipment room), on the Entrance Keypad (at the conveyor entrance) or at any CarWatch Terminal you may have on site.
  • Eliminate employee tampering with unique security passwords on overrides or any controller function. Also, TunnelWatch tracks the length of time any override was used (see sample reports).
  • Save chemicals, energy and wear-and-tear on your equipment with to-the-inch accuracy (rather than by pulse). TunnelWatch is capable of precision down to 1".
  • Emergency situations no longer shut you down because of our simulated enter switch and simulated pulse switch. TunnelWatch also adjusts automatically for intermittent pulse problems.
  • Your regular equipment maintenance becomes easier as TunnelWatch tracks the number of hours each piece has been used. This number is then compared to a budgeted figure in the "Scheduled Maintenance Report."
  • Software conveyor interlock is available on all devices.
  • Your motors will last longer when using the "look-ahead" feature to keep the equipment running if a car is within X number of feet.
  • Progress switches protect your wash from collisions. For example, you may want to assure that each car pulls away from the conveyor exit before the following vehicle can cause a "rear-end" accident. If the cars are too close, TunnelWatch will immediately shut down the conveyor.
  • Advanced demand roller control.
  • Tighter control on productivity using on-screen statistics. For instance, our "Tunnel Utilization Percentage" provides an exact fix on how efficient your people are in putting cars into the wash. If rollers are routinely missed, or cars aren't reaching the entrance fast enough, you'll note a lower percentage. This can be extremely valuable on busy days.
  • Constant, precise tracking of average car length.
  • Security protected, resettable service and cycle counts. These software-based counters are able to track by hours, shifts, days, weeks, months or years. For example, you can compare this year-to-date with last year-to-date.
  • Timed switches, configurable by day of the week (for automatic control of devices, e.g., water heater).
  • Power-outage protection, preventing loss of services to cars in the tunnel during power failure. TunnelWatch. rememfciers the exact setting until power is restored.
  • Programmable-rate flashing for any device. Often, operators use this feature for lights.
  • TunnelWatch provides tight control off-site as well. The "Remote Communications" package (standard with each system) allows you to call any time to see the latest operational statistics. This feature also gives you the ability to link with our office to diagnose problems.
  • You'll save electricity by using the "staggered starting" feature. This reduces the highest load and thus, your energy bill.
  • Supports two terminals per TunnelWatch, system. While the first terminal is normally used as the Entrance Keypad, the second terminal is free to act as an override station, perhaps at the end of the tunnel.
  • Eliminate extra switches by using a single tire input to measure the exact position of each wheel. TunnelWatch can then activate any device without additional switches.
