We sincerely hope Clatsop Care Center will become a
"home away from home". However, as much as we
try to be a home and home-like, we are still an
institution and must have some basic policies to help us
provide appropriate care for those who reside here.
* Food: We ask that all food brought into the
facility be checked in with the Charge Nurse. This
assists us in monitoring diets. Refrigerators are located
on each floor for the storage of perishables. Please mark
containers clearly. Please provide a covered container
for any food left at bedside.
* Cash: It is recommended that cash not be left
with residents. The receptionist at the front desk is
able to store money in a locked safe. Funds can be
retrieved weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and
weekends on request. A locked storage area will be made
available at bedside upon request.
* Valuables: Because of the volume of staff,
volunteers, visitors and residents who enter our
facility, the protection of valuables is limited. If a
resident enters our facility with valuables, it is the
responsibility of the resident and/or responsible party
to inform us and to assist with efforts toward
safekeeping.
* Laundry: All clothing brought into the facility
must be marked with an identifiable laundry marker or
sewn-in tags. If family members plan to do the personal
laundry of the resident, an appropriate laundry container
needs to be provided and marked with the resident's name.
Laundry must be collected at least once per week.
* Personal Items: We encourage each resident's
area to be personalized as much as possible. A favorite
pillow, afghan, clock, picture and family photos provide
comfort and familiarity. Larger items such as a
television, dresser or chair are also encouraged but are
often limited by space.
* Visiting Hours: Friends and family are welcome
to visit at any time. Meal times are at 8:00 a.m., noon,
and 5:00 p.m. The front door is locked at 11:00 p.m., but
entrance can be gained by ringing the doorbell.
* Meals: The dietary staff asks at least 24 hours
notice, when possible, to provide a guest tray. A price
list is available at the front desk.
* Activities: Much effort is spent in providing
our residents with social, recreational and diversified
activities. Special events are scheduled monthly in
addition to daily activities.
* Care Plans: A team comprised of staff Health
Care Professionals meet on a regular basis for the
purpose of discussing needs, progress and optimal care
for each resident. The resident and their representatives
will be invited to take an active role in this process.
* Safety: Smoking, by State law is not permitted in public buildings. Designated smoking areas are located just
outside the main entrance or in the Memorial Garden Area.
Residents determined to be unsafe smokers will be
permitted to smoke only while supervised. As a general
policy, we ask that residents not routinely have lighters
or matches. For exception to this policy, please contact
the Administrator.
* Outings: We encourage you to visit your
relatives and friends in their homes and participate in
family outings when your condition permits and when
approved by your physician. Please notify the charge
nurse in advance of any planned outings so as to insure
proper instruction for care.
