The untitled cycle

Alan P. Scott - Verses

one two three

These three poems - whose titles are untitled, untitled reprise, and untitled iii - are juvenilia, works I typed in 1980 on a typewriter that was not quite as old as I was at the time (I was still in high school in Huntington WV), and published as part of the Marshall University Science Fiction Society's periodical The Recent Future v.1, No. 4, in February 1981. Someone certainly liked them: these poems were collectively awarded 1st prize in Marshall University's 1981 Academic Fair - I think perhaps for sheer length - but I hadn't given them a thought in almost thirty years... until in 2007 an admirer (thanks, Randall B.!) prompted me to review and post them here.

Oddly enough, some of the opinions expressed in these are... juvenile. Imagine. I have resisted the temptation to edit these while translating them into HTML; the texts appear here exactly as originally written, fatuous self-aggrandizement, self-conscious profanity, typos intentional and otherwise, and all.

The "untitled" cycle received 1st prize for poetry in Marshall University's Academic Festival on April 4, 1981.
