Note in an Orange Envelope on Civilization's Breakfast Table

Alan P. Scott - Verses

sic transit

Okay, I'll make a deal with you
Yeah, you, civilization.
You hear?
I didn't ask to be born in, but
I grew to love you, your
Fumbling politics and
Endearing attempts at wooing my attention.

Yeah, you really made me laugh.
We had some good times.
But lately...
Every second a new horse is at the
Post, ready to run.
I can't keep up with you.
You've changed,
become more demanding and, let's face it,
Uglier—I can't take your moods anymore.
So, dear civilization, I'm getting off.
Leaving you behind to change all alone...

You hear?
