you will not chain the beautiful
with nobility she will not see
you will not chain the beautiful
with your own beauty
you will not chain the beautiful
with sin she has come to know
you will not chain the beautiful
with purity she chooses to ignore
you will not chain the beautiful
with sacrifices she has come to expect
you will not chain the beautiful
with the poetry which is her right
you may chain the beautiful
with the indifference you do not have to pretend
but those chains
bind only you
and are broken
with a single tender word
