What I said to William Gibson
as his mind began to wander
while his hand was busy signing
my trade paperback that night:

"You spoke very well tonight. Thank you."

"Thank you," he said automatically.

"In the future, all relationships will be 30 seconds long, at most...

...I could see his attention fading...

"Wups. Time's up."

Well, the guy behind me chuckled.
